Take a FREE Guided Night Walk at Miquelon Lake
Up for exploring in the dark? If you're a night owl and think you have the night-vision to prove it, join us for a late-night stroll through Miquelon. Come learn about other animals that stay up late and what makes the Beaver Hills Dark Sky Preserve so special. We’ll look to the skies for bats and stars, listen in the trees for hooting owls and we’ll even get to visit the famous Hesje Observatory to view the night sky on this two-hour guided walk in the darkness.

Songbird Banding at Beaver Hill Observatory
This annual fall migration of songbirds occurs from July until early October, with September being the peak in songbird abundance. Birds captured include warblers, nuthatches, woodpeckers, thrushes, blackbirds, orioles, sparrows and more! Visit the Muni Muni Art Festival
Muni Muni is a volunteer-run festival that strives to showcase the skills of local youth artists from our very own city, Edmonton. Muni Muni was created and run by local youths and young adults of Edmonton, ranging in age from 13 – 21. Anyone of all ages is welcome to join the fun– whether as a booth in our art market, an artist featured in our art exhibit, a volunteer helping out for the day, or a guest wishing to immerse yourself in the creative arts! There is a diverse spread of different art forms, from traditional arts being sold at the market to stand up comedians and musical performances.

The Strathcona County Child and Youth Coalition invites local youth and young adults to participate in a night of fun at the Back to School Bash. Drop in Music Lab for Kids
Free Drop in Music Lab for Kid at the Apple Store is a fun, weekly session where kids can drop in and learn new skills. This week, kids can learn how to make a theme song! Create a theme song for your favourite show, book or game using GarageBand on iPad. We’ll cover rhythm basics and kids will get hands-on with experimenting with Smart Drums, adding pre-recorded loops and remixing their theme song. Bring your iPad or we’ll provide one. Recommended for ages 8–12.

Get $4 Movie Tickets
Celebrate National Cinema Day with four dollar movie tickets on Sunday! Tickets are $4 at local, homegrown theatres, and your favourite popular brands like Landmark Cinemas and Cineplex. For now, it looks the tickets aren’t available online, so you’ll have to walk up and get tickets. Tickets are valid for any showing, in any format.
