This summer, we’ve got all the intel you need to stretch those dollars without limiting summer fun. From FREE Lego Make and Take events, to pop-up playdates, foraging tours and festivals - we’ve got a whole month of summer fun planned that won’t break the bank.

Ongoing FREE Things to do in Edmonton with Kids this Summer

  • Greenshack Programs
    Get active and join us for games, sports, crafts, music, drama and special events this summer. The Green Shack program is a free drop-in program catered to children ages 6 to 12; however, all are welcome.

  • Get a FREE Ice cream cone at Ikea after you complete a fun, scavenger hunt in-store

  • Learn about Nature at the daily programming! The Big Lake Environment Support Society is hosting another year of their summer nature program out at Big Lake in Lois Hole Centennial Provincial Park. Starting July 2nd, families can attend pre-registered sessions to learn about the nature found in the park. Sessions run Monday through Friday from July 2nd to August 30th

  • Stop by Freson Bros. for a free ice cream cone for little kids. All four locations in Edmonton area take part in this fun (and yummy) program for kids.

  • Check out a Green Shack SHOW
    Join the Edmonton Arts Council and the City of Edmonton throughout July and August for FREE concerts and performances, five days a week at Green Shacks across the city. Performances are daily at 11 AM and at 2:30 PM.

  • Geocaching in Edmonton and start hunting for treasure!

  • Check out this Art Installation using wired telephones that act like walkie talkies in Butler Park. Pick up a phone and one elsewhere in the loop will ring!

  • Rotating FREE Picnic in the Park Playdate. Hosted by the North Central Edmonton Family Resource Network. Join us for themed, family-friendly events running through the summer. There are new themes every picnic!
