This weekend, the holiday season kicks off in Edmonton with light up festivals and the chance to see your favourite parts of Edmonton come alive with Christmas lights. Like so many families, we’re on a budget before the holidays begin, and this weekend is packed with free things to do with the kids. You can watch a free movie, drop in for a free outdoor programming playdate, or even head to a pool for a free swimming session!

Free Swim with Inflatables at Emerald Hills Leisure Centre
Visit Emerald Hills Leisure Centre between 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm and warm up in our favourite place for young kids to swim (the water is the warmest!) with a fun swim in the pool. The inflatables will be out - and perfect for the younger crowd, at their smaller scale.

Preschool Art Class at Art Gallery of St. Albert
Enjoy creative art-making experiences that foster self-expression, art appreciation and skill development. Art-making activities including collage, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and more! Sessions are designed to help your child learn basic art fundamentals. All supplies are included.

Free Movies at Cineplex for Community Day
Cineplex is celebrating Community Day on November 19, 2022 with a morning of FREE movies and $2.50 concessions! Movie selections include Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run and The Lost City. Be there early to get your spot – movies are first come, first serve and you are unable to book a ticket ahead.

Festival Place in Sherwood Park comes alive this holiday season. There are crafts, a scavenger hunt, pony rides, visits with Santa and even a chance to see his live reindeer!

City of Edmonton Play Rangers
Play Rangers focuses on children and family participation, with planned special outdoor recreational activities that can be enjoyed by all. Children aged 6-12 can attend the event on their own, and take part in outdoor and nature focused programming like orienteering, fire building and nature games. Fall Play Rangers will run on Saturdays, September 17 to December 31, from noon-6pm at a variety of districts and River Valley Park locations.

All is Bright Winter Festival on 124th Street
All is Bright Winter festival is lighting up 124th Street with a kick off to the holiday season in the neighbourhood. The festival will feature the light up of the neighbourhood, live music, street performers, fire dancers, kid area, food trucks, sleigh rides, s’mores around fire pits. To cap off the visit, you can visit Santa’s Cove!

This is a special take on breakfast with Santa, and a great place and way to give back this holiday season. Admission for the breakfast with Santa is one new, unwrapped toy. You can make a morning of it, and shop for the toy before the breakfast. Bring the toy, and register in advance for this special holiday season with St. Albert Salvation Army.
